Meet the New Asshole: Kenneth Y. Tomlinson

Just when you thought you were free from right wing evangelical demagogues like John Ashcroft, Alabama's "Judge" Roy "Ten Commandments" Moore, and mega-hypocrite Tom "Fly Me" DeLay, here I am, popping up on your radar screen.

Who am I? I'm Kenneth Y. Tomlinson, "the Republican chairman of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting." I'm "aggressively pressing public television to correct what [I] and other conservatives consider liberal bias . . ." on PBS. (NY Times Page 1.)

I have already secretly investigated Bill Moyers. Are you willing to bend over while I "secretly investigate" your viewing habits? I'll bet you watch "This Old House" with the blinds drawn, you sick commie bastard!

Last November, members of the Association of Public Television Stations met in Baltimore along with officials from the corporation and PBS. Mr. Tomlinson told them they should make sure their programming better reflected the Republican mandate.

Mr. Tomlinson said that his comment was in jest and that he couldn't imagine how remarks at "a fun occasion" were taken the wrong way. Others, though, were not amused.

"I was in that room," said Ms. Mitchell. "I was surprised by the comment. I thought it was inappropriate."

Be afraid. Be very afraid. Details here from the New York Times.

Maybe it would be in order to refer to Tomlinson as an'Ignoranus'

No, it's not misspelled. It is the prizewinning entry in a recent Washington Post Mensa Invitational, wherein the contestant is asked to take any word in the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting or changing one letter and supplying a new definition.

So. An Ignoranus, you see, is a person who is not only stupid, but is an asshole, as well!

Please note, however, that Tomlinson is not the only Ignoranus in America - there are nearly 60 million of them, and, oddly, all of them are Republicans.

I've been listening to NPR since 1979 and I can attest that it is the pillar of liberal journalism. Although I appreciate the talented journalists (I'm a journalist too), the disdain it has for people like me - white, Christian, conservative - is crystal clear. It's about time someone questioned their tax-payer-paid agenda.

re: NYT's 11/16 "Broadcast Chief Violated Laws, Inquiry Finds"

That fat, sweaty sack of ideology Kenneth Y. Tomlinson is getting what he deserves. Nothing makes me happier than to see this guy get his just due. I came to tears on more than one occation when I heard what he was doing to re-structure NPR into a conservative propaganda machine. Kenneth Y. Tomlinson is a sick man who is caught up in this Cult of "W," who all think that everyone else owes the current powers-that-be allegiance. Well, I am allied with the law today, and I am glad Kenneth Y. Tomlinson is now at risk of jail time.
